Aldershot is home to the Royal Botanical Gardens, a world-class tourist attraction and facility. The gardens are set in the natural landscape setting of the Grindstone Creek and the Lake Ontario shoreline. The older quaint neighbourhoods of Aldershot are well-maintained and the landscaped appearance reflects the character of many heritage quality residences.
LaSalle Park and the Marina are a short walk from Plains Road. In 1915 this 57 acre parcel of land was purchased by the
Hamilton Parks Board and called Wabasso Park. In 1926, to commemorate Sieur de La Salle's landing in the area the name was changed to La Salle Park. Today, the park is still owned by Hamilton with a lease agreement to Burlington, in which Burlington assumes all maintenance, operational, programming and management responsibilities for the park. The park includes a marina, sports fields, trails and picnic areas. The park's shoreline is dedicated to fish and wildlife habitat management and you can visit the swans, ducks, geese and other wildlife during every season of the year.
